The elephant has an uncanny ability to uncover permanent sources of fresh water during the dry months, which is why the corridor between Manyara and Tarangire is heavily populated with elephants. The previously-mobile Tarangire Ndovu Tented Lodge has now been upgraded to a permanent ‘Business Class’ setup – we call it glamping! It is superbly comfortable, with an emphasis on responsible tourism.

The 14 deluxe tents include one honeymoon ‘suite’ and two 2-2 bedroom family tents. Each tent is spacious, replete with local handcrafted furniture and pure cotton bedding. The bathrooms, easily accessed directly from the bedroom with a separate doorway, boast cool, polished concrete floors. The tents themselves are made out of heavy-duty safari rip-stop canvas sewn in our own workshop. Each one, perched on north-west-facing platforms, has the additional cooling feature of shade-clothing over the entire tent.

There is a magical path between the tents and the communal dining area – you are guided by a mix of solar lights and lanterns to create an enchanting setting to unwind after the day’s adventures.
