MEET THE TEAM
Aneshree Murugasa-Archary holds an MBA and a B.Comm Honours degree. After spending many years in various government and corporate positions she is currently with Multichoice.
Her work experience includes Toyota, South African Airways, Business Connexion, Barclays and companies in trade and investment.
Aneshree has a strong competence in dealing with multiple, complex and diverse programmes (Tourism/ITC/media), including transformation and transition.
Her love of tourism and travel was ignited when she served on the Customer Service and QLA Star Alliance board in 2008 and 2009.
A travel industry veteran since 1981, Doreen Smith has worked at American Airlines, IVI Travel Management and Tower Travel Management. Focusing on operational management and training, Doreen has excelled in numerous roles during her career. Doreen’s excellent customer service skills have allowed her to service numerous VIP customers around the world with bespoke travel arrangements and problem-solving.
In addition to her travel industry roles, Doreen is a certified Le Cordon Bleu chef and has operated a catering, teaching and personal chef service. Doreen is also a certified downhill ski instructor and currently works as a part-time instructor at Keystone Mountain Resort in Colorado.
Potlako Gasennelwe holds a BA Interior Architecture (cum laude) from the American International University in London and a Master of Science in Built Environment and Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Her entrepreneurial spirit and sound business know-how have led to a successful local and international career. Fluent in English, French, Zulu and Ndebele she has worked extensively in South Africa and across the continent.
Potlako is currently studying for her MA in History and Art at the University of the Witwatersrand. She received the 2008 Developer of the Year award for the Dogon Ashanti Development awarded by the Johannesburg Development Agency.
Potlako has travelled to 40 African countries and plans to visit the remainder by 2022. She describes Africa as her favourite travel destination due to its incredible and unique cuisine, culture and history. For Potlako, a particularly mind-blowing experience was visiting Timbuktu in Mali, home to the world’s first university and the city where parts of the Quran and the Bible were written.
Stefan Le Roux joins TCA’s Advisory Board. He is a senior partner at Glyn Marais Inc. One of South Africa’s most prestigious under the radar law firms, designed for Private Wealth Clients.
Stefan qualified in law with honours at Stellenbosch University, Western Cape, South Africa, he speaks English, Afrikaans and German.
Stefan is also a solicitor to the Supreme Courts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, He is extremely well placed to assist foreign investors with asset acquisitions and disposals in Southern Africa.
Stefan is a member of the Future Excellence Design Institute South Africa’s (FEDISA) Academic Advisory Council which echoes his passion for education, design, fashion and delivery of excellence. He is a past President of the Cape Town Attorneys’ Association and a member of the Property Law Committee of the Cape Law Society, as well as a Member of The Law Society of The Cape of Good Hope.

A 34-year travel industry veteran, John Smith owns Tower Travel Management, a travel management company headquartered in Clarendon Hills, Illinois with sales over $100 million. John has broad experience in all aspects of travel management and has led Tower to the position of recognized industry leader in technology, most notably its successful client implementation and adoption of numerous online reservation tools.
John is considered the ‘master of travel’ and is frequently quoted in industry publications. He has spoken at meetings for groups such as The Beat Live, the Global Business Travel Association, the ACTE Global Conference, Chicago Business Travel Association and Corporate Travel World. John has also served on a number of prominent industry advisory boards such as the Technology Council for the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA), the Editorial Board of Business Travel News, the Advisory Board for Hickory Global Partners and the Board of Directors for the Better Business Bureau (BBB) for Chicago and Northern Illinois.
Andrew Shapland is the Roving Ambassador. He is the driving force of TCA and spearheaded its establishment in 1993. He is a subject matter expert and leading specialist of strategic sales and marketing within the hospitality industry.
Andrew’s significant experience and in-depth industry knowledge supported by experiences from the USA, UK, RSA and other overseas markets has consistently produced successful results. He has promoted a range of hotels and lodges in Southern Africa, including the former Conservation Corporation and was instrumental in creating The Small Exclusive Hotels of Southern Africa (which later merged into Tourism Corporation Africa Ltd.) Andrew is a dynamic leader with industry experience, knowledge and vision.
For 50 years Susan has been taking care of the back end of successful businesses and she very capably looks after the nuts and bolts of Tourism Corporation Africa’s daily admin. Susans’ work experience includes being the PA to one of the directors of PriceWaterhouseCoopers followed by a position as Property Manager.
It is unsurprising that travel is a passion for Susan and she feels very fortunate to have travelled to many countries around the world enjoying and absorbing different sights and cultures.
Collin is a specialised professional in web development, digital and graphic design, web design, web, and mobile user interface, interaction design, video editing, and motion graphics. His focus is on the creative and design process applied to digital and new interactive media.
Collin worked in teams at the highest professional level in many of the largest South African companies, increasing his knowledge in every field of digital media. He is able to organise his work independently setting priorities and optimising the resources assigned to him, consistently meeting deadlines and targets.
